REDUCED Catholic charity seals from 1923 to 1932 The charity is Saint Anthony Guild or SAG. The custom of invoking St. Anthony's protection in regard to mail is based on a tradition which dates back to 1729. The legend involves a letter which had St. Anthony's protection. The letter may still be seen at Oviedo, dated Lima, July 23, 1727. From this grew the laudable custom of writing S.A.G. on letters and of sealing the mail with St. Anthony Guild seals.
