Affiliations

The Poway Stamp Club of San Diego County is a member and affiliate of the American Philatelic Society (APS). 

The APS has members in more than 110 countries, it is the largest, non-profit organization for stamp collectors in the world. Founded in 1886, the APS serves collectors, educators, postal historians and the general public by providing a wide variety of programs and services. 

The members of the Poway Stamp Club are proud supporters of the Guyana Philatelic Society and the Stamp Collectors of Guyana. The Poway Stamp Club helps support the Society and the newly opened Guyana Philatelic Library.

 San Diego  Stamp Show, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation.  Its main purpose  is to extend and enrich the pursuit of knowledge and enjoyment of all  aspects of stamp collecting and postal history for public benefit.

 The Poway Stamp Club Is ATA Affiliation chapter #137 

The  American Topical Association (ATA) was founded in 1949 to bring   together people who enjoy collecting postage stamps by topics.   Throughout ATA’s history, that mission has not changed, but ATA has   grown as topical collecting has become one of the most popular areas of   philately.

Through  its numerous programs and services, ATA has encouraged  beginning, as  well as experienced, topical enthusiasts to collect,  research, study  and share their topics. Members have enthusiastically  shared knowledge  and research and have encouraged others.

Has  your collecting hit a brick wall? Are the stamps of the country or  specialty you collect just too hard to find or way beyond your budget?  Is your head swimming from looking for secret marks or from parsing too  many Franklin-Washington’s? Then take a break by starting a topical  collection. What are your interests outside of stamp collecting? There  are probably stamps which celebrate or chronicle that interest and they  don’t cost fifty dollars a stamp.

Our  affiliation with the ATA offers us a chance to broaden our philatelic  horizons. Our newsletter is now reaching a national audience and we are  able to tap into a wealth of educational philatelic material. We may  even attract a few new members.
